Dr (Prof.) Anil Arora

Dr (Prof.) Anil Arora is Chairman and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Patparganj, and an internationally recognised robotic total knee and hip replacement surgeon. He is a Guinness World Records holder and a Limca Book of Records holder, with more than 38 years of experience and over 12,000 joint replacement surgeries performed.

He completed his MBBS and MS in Orthopaedics at Dr Sampurnanand Medical College, Jodhpur, and his DNB in Orthopedics from the National Board of Examinations. He went on to complete a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship in Primary, Complex and Revision Joint Replacement Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, London, along with further fellowships in joint replacement and arthroscopy in Australia, and diploma and fellowship training in the USA, Korea, Germany and Japan.

Dr Arora specializes in robotic total knee replacement, pinless computer-navigated total knee replacement, complex and revision knee and hip replacements, custom-made knee replacements, massive knee replacements for tumours, and shoulder and elbow replacement. He also performs arthroscopy and arthroscopic ACL and meniscus surgery.

He has held academic positions including Professor at University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and Assistant Professor at Dr SN Medical College and Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jodhpur. He has trained surgeons nationally and internationally in robotic and complex joint replacement techniques, presented around 240 talks and lectures, published approximately 50 research papers, and contributed around 20 chapters to national textbooks.

Dr Arora is a Guinness World Record holder for organizing the largest gathering of joint replacement patients (April 2018) and holds a Limca Book of Records entry for enabling a bedridden patient to walk again after 30 years, through total knee replacement surgery. He has received numerous national awards, including the DMA Vishisht Chikitsa Ratan Award, the Times of India Healthcare Achievers "Legend in Orthopaedics" Award, and recognition from the Economic Times as Top Knee & Hip Replacement Surgeon of the Year.
